An Exercise That Will Change Your Life.

I am a coach for individuals, groups, and companies. In this work I help others identify their strengths, overcome challenges, achieve goals, and fulfill their ideal vision of success. With my coaching, I help the client to identify exactly what they want and take intentional action towards results. This process allows the client not only to deliver on their promises but to go beyond them; to experiment, innovate, and improvise, so that they can take bigger, bolder, and better actions in service of their dreams.

“I don’t know what to do.”  “I’m in a rut.”  “I feel stuck.”  These are words I hear often from coaching clients.  We all struggle with this kind of mindset sometimes, and if you’re struggling right now, it’s time to push through.  There’s plenty you can do.

The truth is, you have the power to move forward no matter how stuck you feel or what obstacles block your path.  You have the power to live up to your highest vision of how your life can be.  You have the power to follow through and make significant progress on your biggest goals.  You have all this power because you have the CHOICE.  In each moment you can choose what you think, what you do, and who you want to be.

You don’t have to continue doing things the way you’ve always done them.  You don’t have to be held a prisoner by your old, familiar habits and assumptions.

When you are feeling stuck or frustrated in your life without any options, I have an exercise Id like you to try. Put aside 10 minutes a day to sit quietly with yourself. Set a timer or a phone alarm if you need to so that your mind doesn’t wander off. Find a comfortable space free of distractions and interruptions. Sit in an easy position and work through the following meditation:

Caroline’s “Take A Moment Meditation”. An Exercise That Will Change Your Life.

“Take a good look at your life right now. If you don’t like something about it, close your eyes and imagine the life you want. Now allow yourself to focus your thoughts on the person you would be if you were living this preferred life. Notice the differences in how you behave, present yourself, and how you feel; allow yourself to spend several seconds breathing in the new image, expanding your energy into this new mold. Hold the image for several seconds and allow it to imprint it on your subconscious mind.”

Do this daily for 10 minutes or so. Often times when it feels like you’re being pulled in every direction by forces beyond your control, its time to take time to realign yourself with what you value most in life.  The way to do this is to clear the distractions, the outside noise, the external world and go inward.

One of my favorite quotes by Lao Tzu states: “At the center of your being you have the answer. You know who you are and you know what you want.” Give yourself time and space to connect to the center of your being, to who you are and what you want. I believe a daily meditation can serve as a simple and powerful way to quiet your mind and direct your life in the direction you want.

Everyday is a new day, filled with new possibilities. Never ever assume that you’re stuck with the way things are. Life changes every second, and so can you.

What is one thing you want to change in your life?  Leave me a comment below and share your thoughts.

Here to cheer you on through all of life’s changes. Keep going, keep growing, and stay positive my friends.

Be Unstoppable from the Inside Out. Fuel for your Active Lifestyle.

You are powerful when you believe in yourself – when you know that you are capable of anything you put your mind to.  You are beautiful when your strength and determination shines as you follow your own path – when you aren’t disheveled by the obstacles along the way.  You are unstoppable when you let your mistakes educate you, as your confidence builds from experiences – when you know you can fall down, pick yourself up, and move forward.

Your power comes from the inside out. A healthy diet is part of that.

It’s no secret that nutrition is just as important as fitness for your health. Whether you’re a workout fanatic, just starting an exercise routine, or getting back on the bandwagon, it‘s important to make sure you’re fueling up with the nutrients that your body needs to stay energized and properly nourished.

I believe eating well is a constant process of self-development. To me, it means being open to learn, grow, and challenge yourself. It means learning to listen to your body and honor what it needs and how it feels. When there are so many choices, trends, and opinions it can be hard to define what is right for you. It’s a process of trial and error. Of testing, re-testing, and listening. When it comes to living with power there is one thing I know for sure: choose to fuel your life with functional fuel and you’ll be unstoppable. When it comes to performing my best both in and out of workouts, here are a few things I’ve learned that help me fuel with power from the inside out:

  1. Start the day with a large glass of water. Too busy to remember or living a fast life on the go?  Take it with you in an unbreakable water bottle made with BPA-free Eastman Tritan plastic. My first choice on the go bottle is here. While it looks like glass, it’s not as heavy, so there is easier handling and less likelihood for dropping it.
  2. Coffee can help get you going, but too much will make you crash and burn. One cup does the trick. After that, I’m better off getting natural energy from movement, fresh air, and sunlight.
  3. A daily dose of apple cider vinegar will boost your energy and balance your stomach. Click here for my daily detox drink.
  4. Breakfast is essential. Taking the time for a solid sit down breakfast will help you have the power to fuel your entire day, avoid cravings, and limit late night eating. Here are a few of my favorite fast and easy breakfast ideas to fuel your busy life.
  5. EAT REAL FOOD. Not too much. Mostly plants. (thanks Michael Pollan).
  6. Figure out your daily intake goals (protein, carbohydrate, fat, calories). Aim to get it daily. I use Livestrong.com “My Plate” to record an online food diary when I want to make sure Im getting the nutrients I need to succeed. Its completely free, has a large database, and is an excellent resource.  Ill keep a record for a few days on a regular basis to check in with myself and keep my healthy diet on track.
  7. Get those electrolytes! Sweating can cause a lot of fluid loss, which can throw off the body’s electrolyte balance. If you’ll be working up a considerable sweat, or exercising outdoors in the heat, mix an electrolyte supplement such as Vega electrolyte hydrator. This zero calorie electrolyte blend will keep your metabolism and energy up while giving you the all-day hydration you need to keep going fast. Pop it in your favorite water bottle and you are good to go.
  8. Protein. Protein is considered one of the building blocks of life and provides your body with the amino acids it needs to build and repair muscle. Your diet should include a healthy amount of protein from real foods like lean meats, beans, and nuts. You can also supplement with protein powders. I personally prefer protein shakes because they’re easy to make and ensure I am getting the precise amount of protein I need. My favorite is Vega Sport Performance Protein Powder. With 30 grams of complete, alkaline-forming protein per 150 calorie serving,  you’ll improve strength and exercise performance and reduce recovery time between intense workouts (or long work days!). Take 45-90 minutes after a hard workout, bring with you to use for extra power for a long work day, or use while traveling to keep your nutrition on track.

  9. Eat every 2-3 hours helps keep blood glucose stable and to stay energized for whatever the day throws at you. I put together an entire list of my favorite all natural snacks for energy and health here. And a few of my top choices for pre and post workout eats here.

  10. Allow yourself the treats you love in moderation. Life is for living not deprivation. (I call it the 80/20 rule of healthy eating!

Aloha Superfood Chocolate. Indulging in your chocolate craving has never tasted this amazing. Want to taste some for yourself? Enter the code: " CAROLINEJORDANFITNESS" at:https://aloha.com/home for 10% off your superfood chocolate!

  11. Hydrate responsibly all day! It is essential to stay properly hydrated before, during and after workouts and in between. If drinking plain water is difficult for you, try adding a slice of fresh fruit to your water bottle. I keep my Eastman Water bottle on hand all day to remind me to hydrate. Made with Tritan tough plastic, the bottle doesn’t scratch, break, or retain odors or stains…. no matter how hard you live or train. I try to refill the bottle at least 6 times a day.
  12. Vitamins. While a solid, over-the-counter multi-vitamin can help fill in nutritional gaps in your diet, I highly recommend seeing an internist and having a blood test done to check all of your vitamin levels to make sure you’re tailoring your vitamin regimen to your individual needs.

You are here to share special gifts that no one else has.  You have the power and strength within you to live your best life.  To do that, you must believe in yourself and be powerful from the inside out. And to really maximize your power and strength, choose to fuel right. Your power comes from the inside out. Believe it and BE IT. Be your incredible, unstoppable, self.

In health,

Caroline

January 1, 2016. Day One of a Bright New Year!

Hello Friends!

How is your year going so far? I have a feeling 2016 is going to be a good one for you! My year has gotten off to a strong and blessed start. I spent New Years in Hawaii to celebrate two of my friend’s getting married. It was a beautiful trip and Im so grateful I got to be there to celebrate their happy future together. While I was there I ran beside the Maui bay (heaven), swam laps with a giant sea-turtle (magical), ate my weight in pineapple (just.cant.get.enough), and danced under the stars to “watch me whip” (lets hope no one got that on camera ;). Hawaii is by far one of my favorite places in the world to play, relax, and enjoy incredible natural beauty. What a way to begin 2016!

After Hawaii, I returned home to San Francisco to head right back out to lead a New Years Wellness Weekend Retreat at Solage Calistoga. It was a blissful experience full of uplifting workouts, inspiring workshops, relaxing mineral baths, and goal setting for a bright year ahead. I’ll fill you in on all the details in another post… but for now lets just say this: Solage is a little slice of heaven on earth and I am very grateful to have worked with them in starting 2016 right.

All checked into Solage Calistoga and ready to lead a weekend of wellness workshops.

All checked into Solage Calistoga and ready to lead a weekend of wellness workshops.

From Solage it was back to the Bay to lead a day of Caroline Jordan Fitness corporate wellness workshops for DDB San Francisco. DDB is an advertising agency in San Francisco known for being “21st century achitects of big brand stories”. They work hard, love what they do, and are incredibly talented professionals.

I was honored to be there and support DDB in their health and wellbeing. Our 2 hour wellness workshop together was a full session that covered a lot of subjects related to wellness and helped further a healthy work culture at DDB San Francisco. It was informative, inspiring, uplifting, and fun. The smiles in the room give me such joy. I feel it is my purpose to inspire and support self-care and a healthier, happier world. It is my hope is that through these workshops and events participants can get real resources they can use to positively impact their wellness and lives. I believe in my work. And I believe that each workshop and corporate wellness effort can empower positive lifestyle changes in individuals, companies, and the world as a result.

A brand new year is always exciting! We are filled with anticipation, we resolve to achieve our goals and make our dreams come true. Given that this is a fantastic time to reflect, visualize and plan, here are 100 tips to be the best possible version of you in 2016.

How to be your healthiest, happiest self in 2016

  1. Always remember: as long as you are breathing, you are capable of changing and growing.
  2. Accept responsibility for your own life.
  3. Put yourself first.
  4. Keep your mind open and never stop learning.
  5. Don’t look back, keep moving forward.
  6. Say YES
  7. Learn from other people’s experiences.
  8. Handle problems with calm, detachment, and heart.
  9. Own the mistakes in which you were directly involved.
  10. Reward yourself when a goal is accomplished.
  11. Never say ‘can’t’ or ‘won’t’.

  13. Eliminate people and things that distract you or deplete your energy.
  14. Read, read, and read some more.
  15. Stay motivated and go for it.
  16. Decide what you want — then do it.
  17. Hang, work, collaborate and network with the best people you can find.
  18. Find your own definition of balance — family, financial, professional, social, spiritual, recreational — and create it in your life.
  19. Keep your personal goals at the forefront of your mind.
  20. Be resourceful, never timid.
  21. Never fear failure or mistakes. They are an essential piece in your growth and success.
  22. Your state of mind is gold, protect it.
  23. Be open to suggestions, feedback, challenges and guidance.
  24. Leave your ego at the door.
  25. Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it.
  26. Stay curious.
  27. Associate with those you respect and admire.
  28. Challenge yourself in new ways and all ways.

  30. Remain flexible and adaptable.
  31. Keep an idea file to help guide your course.
  32. Get lots of sleep.
  33. Engage in any activity that enhances your energy and vitality.
  34. Be present — pay attention.
  35. Help others, give of yourself.
  36. Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude.
  37. Be impeccable in your thoughts, words and deeds.
  38. Extend kindness to all who cross your path.
  39. Never hold a grudge, let it go.
  40. Take control of your mind and emotions, if you don’t, they will control you.
  41. Always make a good first impression; people will remember you for it.
  42. Be the kind of person you want to meet.
  43. Let your actions speak louder than your words and make your life preach louder than your lips.
  44. Leave others better than you found them.
  45. Choose your social circle wisely.
  46. Don’t burn bridges.
  47. Raise your standards.
  48. Have boundaries.
  49. If you tell the truth, it becomes a part of your past.  If you lie, it becomes a part of your future.
  50. Be honest.
  51. Love is all there is – be open to it, cultivate it ,and pay it forward.
  52. Pain is temporary, perspective is everything.
  53. Don’t take anything personally, ever.
  54. What you do every day matters more than what you do every once in a while.
  55. Life isn’t fair, but you can still make it a good one.
  56. Don’t buy things you don’t need.
  57. Stay true to yourself
  58. Don’t compare your life to others. Comparison is the thief of happiness.  You could spend a lifetime worrying about what others have, but it wouldn’t get you anything.
  59. Always choose life.
  60. Believe in magic, miracles, and serendipity.
  61. Envy is a waste of time.
  62. Be happy.  Be yourself.  If others don’t like it, then let them be.  Happiness is a choice.  Life isn’t about pleasing everybody.
  63. If you don’t like something, change it.  If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.
  64. Be different. Be unique. Be memorable.
  65. Trust your gut, always.
  66. Words are cheap, actions priceless.
  67. You are not your possessions or your looks.
  68. Work to create a life that feels right to YOU, not one that looks right to everyone else.
  69. In five years, it won’t matter.
  70. Life is not complex – your thinking makes it so.
  71. Avoid drama and don’t create any.
  72. Don’t pursue success, but positive impact.
  73. Learn to love yourself first, instead of loving the idea of other people loving you.
  74. Walk with those who want more and are doing more. Surround yourself with those who are on the same mission as you.
  75. Spend time with those who are near and dear to you.
  76. There’s no such thing as a quick fix.
  77. Never compromise your self-worth for anyone or anything.
  78. Don’t think of cost.  Think of value.
  79. The opinion you hold of yourself is all that matters.
  80. Stop being so hard on yourself.
  81. It takes more energy to resist than to accept something. You can not change what you refuse to confront.
  82. The most reliable way to predict the future is to create it.  Participate in life instead of just watching it pass you by.
  83. Learn to relax more.
  84. Accept that you cannot control everything.
  85. Get rid of your wish-bone and get a backbone.
  86. Don’t be a short-term thinker.
  87. Keep it real.
  88. Treat yourself well.
  89. Inhale, exhale, embrace, enjoy.
  90. Do it. Do it now.
  91. Replace the phrase “I have to” with “I get to” whenever you catch yourself starting to complain.  So many activities we complain about are things others wish they had the chance to do.
  92. Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy.
  93. Take constructive criticism seriously, but not personally.  Listen, and then operate with your own intuition and wisdom as your guide.
  94. Always remember: you are stronger than you think and braver than you believe.
  95. Smile, it is the best accessory.
  96. Take time to realign yourself with what you value most in life.  What is important in your life is what you decide is important.
  97. Have patience and keep a good attitude while working hard for what you believe in.
  98. Be assertive, never aggressive.
  99. Don’t take things for granted.

100. Happiness is a choice. Choose happy.

Happy New Year! The start of a new year is one of my favorite times. Chaos, then rest. Celebration, then strategy. Goodbye, HELLO. I rock my introvertedness, I make vision boards, I spend just a bit of time reviewing what DIDN’T work the past year (not too much, because let’s get on with things), I analyze what I want (because I WILL manifest what I lock on to, so best be sure what I desire is truly good for me), and then I take ACTION. Its my time to reflect, goal set, and create a powerful and positive intention for the year ahead.

On January 8th, 2016 Ive been invited to kick off the Solage Calistoga Resort’s Wellness Week. I’m so excited to return to Solage and begin my new year in a balanced, blissful place. I’ll be leading an uplifting all levels pilates core fusion workout followed by my Caroline Jordan Fitness Vision Board and Goals workshop. Here is my schedule for January 8th at Solage Calistoga:

5:15pm – 6pm Start Strong Core Conditioning

6:15-7:30pm Vision Board Creation

The entire schedule for the week of wellness events can be viewed here: https://www.solagecalistoga.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Wellness-Week-Schedule.pdf

Whether you can join me in Calistoga or not, Id like to invite you to take a moment to take a deep breath, and pull out your map. Are you driving your life in the direction you want? Deep down inside what is truly important to you? What do you value and do you make time for it on a daily basis? My goal is to be a source of inspiration, information, encouragement, and support to enable you to take action and live a life you love. Start now: set small, realistic goals to make those things that truly matter to you a part of your world. Whether you are trying to beat stress, have specific fitness feats you want to accomplish, or just want to take better care of yourself, I’m here to help you keep your body, mind, and spirit in great shape so you can love your life.

Remember: success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success. I believe in you and believe you have the power to choose to love yourself and love your life. And if ever you forget your own greatness, I want to be the voice thats there to remind you of your strength. Stay committed, positive, present, and persistent. You deserve to feel good and to live a life you love.

Keep going, keep growing, and get ready for a beautiful 2016
